New Year's Eve Party? Protect Yourself and Your Guests

New Year's Eve holds excitement and promise for the year to come. A grand welcoming to new choices and opportunities for things we dream of and goals we set for eminent success. We are able to look back over the past year and analyze our personal and professional accomplishments...and maybe a few things that we would like to forget.

The best way to let our hair down and imagine fresh new beginnings is to gather with friends and celebrate the magical stroke of midnight. Be the perfect host with the perfect plan for the evening. Plan for EVERYTHING. Protect yourself and your guests. No one wants to be liable for accidents. You agent can help you with questions about your homeowners and umbrella policies. Are there any limitations to your policies? You might already have the coverage you need.

The I.I.I. has compiled a list of great tips that should be considered if you are hosting a celebration that involves alcohol.

  • Encourage guests to pick a designated driver who will refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages so that he or she can drive other guests home.
  • Consider hiring a professional bartender. Most bartenders are trained to recognize signs of intoxication and can limit consumption by partygoers.
  • Be a responsible host. Limit your own alcohol intake so that you will be better able to judge your guests’ sobriety.
  • Make non-alcoholic beverages available and always serve food. It is proven that food can help counter the effects of alcohol.
  • Do not pressure guests to drink or rush to refill their glasses when empty. And never continue to serve guests who are visibly intoxicated.
  • Stop serving liquor toward the end of the evening and switch to coffee, tea and soft drinks.
  • If guests drink too much or seem too tired to drive home, call a cab, arrange a ride with a sober guest or have them sleep at your home.
  • Encourage all your guests to wear seatbelts when they drive home. Studies show that seatbelts save lives.
  •  UBER IS AWAYS AN OPTION. Get that app for you and your kids if they will be out.
  • A few other things to consider are:

  •  Underage drinking
  •  Harmful physical contact
  •  Property Damage
  • We want your new year to begin as a clean slate for only happiness and prosperity. We wish you many blessings in the coming year.
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
